Country musician, producer and acclaimed pedal steel guitarist\u00a0Tommy Detamore<\/strong>\u00a0died Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at age 70. His wife of 41 years, Sandra Detamore, confirmed his sudden passing.<\/p>\n

Detamore was widely respected for his work as a pedal steel guitarist, producer, recording engineer and studio musician. During a career spanning more than four decades, he worked with artists including\u00a0Ray Price, Ronnie Milsap, Johnny Bush, Doug Sahm, The Texas Tornados, Robert Earl Keen<\/strong>\u00a0and many others.<\/p>\n

A Virginia native, Detamore moved to Texas in 1981 and later toured extensively with\u00a0Moe Bandy<\/strong>, performing across the United States and Europe. He also appeared on\u00a0Grand Ole Opry<\/em>,\u00a0Hee Haw<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Nashville Now<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He later founded\u00a0Cherry Ridge Studio<\/strong>\u00a0in Floresville, Texas, where he produced and recorded countless country and Americana projects.<\/p>\n

In November 2025, he was honored as\u00a0Steel Guitar Player of the Year<\/strong>\u00a0at the Texas Country Music Awards.<\/p>\n

His wife remembered him as a gifted musician, mentor, collaborator and \u201cthe love of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

A cause of death has not been publicly announced.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His music and influence will continue to live on in country music.<\/p>\n
