Here, me in jail and the case. But I would Jeopardize a very severe matter (or) matters if I did,\u201d the \u201cDamsel of Death\u201d wrote in the April 1 letter, later adding, \u201cAs for what really went down. The world will be surprised to learn at trial time.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1e150554f05972707c0c202f96b2e99e\" class=\"newsner-1e150554f05972707c0c202f96b2e99e newsner-incide_content_once\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world would soon learn plenty about <a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/murder\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/murder\/\">Aileen Wuornos<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-hitchhiking-and-hookin-24-7\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Hitchhiking and hookin\u2019 24\/7\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By her own admission, the Michigan-born Wuornos was \u201chitchhiking and hookin\u2019 24\/7\u201d along Florida\u2019s highways, where she killed seven men between 1989 and 1990, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/details-aileen-wuornos-queen-of-the-serial-killers-left-out-11840249\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">People<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-4e291267641ad146983ad0d184040abd\" class=\"newsner-4e291267641ad146983ad0d184040abd\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As investigators closed in, they turned to Wuornos\u2019 girlfriend, Tyria Moore, who had left Florida and returned to Pennsylvania. Police persuaded Moore to cooperate, bringing her back to Florida and using recorded phone calls between the women to get Wuornos talking about the killings until she eventually confessed.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-i-have-hate-crawling-through-my-system\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018I have hate crawling through my system\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By January 1992, Wuornos was on trial for the first-degree murder of Richard Mallory, whom she maintained she had shot in self-defense after he attacked her. The jury found her guilty and unanimously recommended the death penalty, and Wuornos later pleaded guilty or no contest in five other murder cases, leaving her with six <a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/death\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/death\/\">death<\/a> sentences.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-125503799\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\">\n<div id=\"intext_202270_2_wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-64e8ddb0fafc56a69f83ea556b0cc2d9\" class=\"newsner-64e8ddb0fafc56a69f83ea556b0cc2d9 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI killed those men, robbed them as cold as ice. And I\u2019d do it again, too,\u201d Wuornos said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20080605154630\/http:\/archives.cnn.com\/2002\/LAW\/10\/09\/wuornos.execution\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">CNN<\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s no chance in keeping me alive or anything, because I\u2019d kill again. Why did they do it, if they did it? That\u2019s what the show is about.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1729062204\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\">\n<div id=\"intext_202270_3_wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-18429f7a396c11b9455e34bbf36e31a2\" class=\"newsner-18429f7a396c11b9455e34bbf36e31a2 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But long before Wuornos became a character in someone else\u2019s story, she spent years putting her own thoughts on paper.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-letters-from-inside-the-cell\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Letters from inside the cell<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The April 1991 letter to Botkins was only the start. Will Love ya. \u2018FOR EVER!\u2019\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-i-ll-be-back\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018I\u2019ll be back\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After telling witnesses at her execution that she\u2019ll \u201cbe back,\u201d Wuornos died by lethal injection at Florida State Prison on Oct. 9, 2002, but Botkins\u2019 role in her story did not end with the final letter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The childhood friend who had corresponded with Wuornos throughout her years behind bars visited her the night before she died, then took her ashes back to Michigan after the execution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There, the story that had restarted with a letter more than a decade earlier ended among the walnut trees Botkins had been planting for her friend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe loved walnut trees,\u201d Botkins told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theledger.com\/story\/news\/2002\/10\/18\/killers-ashes-to-be-scattered-sunday\/26024546007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The Ledger<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve been planting walnut trees for her for a few years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Botkins scattered Wuornos\u2019 ashes among those trees on her property in Tuscola County, bringing her childhood friend back to Michigan one final time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Would you ever consider corresponding with a convicted serial killer on death row, or would that be a line you could never cross?
