After her house in Benoit, Mississippi was destroyed in 1993, financial constraints led her to consider alternative living options. Her brother-in-law, an air traffic controller, proposed living in an airplane.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\"><\/div>\n<p>Acquiring the Boeing 727 for $2,000, Ussery invested around $30,000 to turn the plane into a luxurious abode. The revamped 138-foot interior included three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living area, and a laundry room. Remarkably, the cockpit became a master bathroom with a soaking tub, offering a feeling of floating midair.<\/p>\n<p>Ussery lived in her airplane home from 1995 to 1999, later converting it into a museum. However, a transport mishap severely damaged the plane.
