Despite months of treatment, doctors eventually told them there was nothing more they could do. With heavy hearts, her parents focused on making Emma\u2019s final wishes come true.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike many children who might wish for Disneyland or to meet a celebrity, Emma\u2019s dream was to marry her childhood sweetheart, DJ, also just 10 years old. The two had been close since third grade and even tried to \u201cmarry\u201d in school once before.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\"><\/div>\n<p>With the support of friends, family, and volunteers who called themselves \u201cEmma\u2019s Army,\u201d and help from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Emma\u2019s dream came true. On June 29, 2023, Emma wore a purple dress and was wheeled down the aisle by her parents to marry DJ in a beautiful, love-filled ceremony.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Emma Edwards &amp; Daniel Williams Jr. Make-A-Wish Wedding 2023\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U1Pt_8ZgkEU?feature=oembed\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Just weeks later, on July 11, Emma passed away, surrounded by loved ones. Her obituary called her a \u201clight to all who loved her\u201d and praised her strength, humor, and love for life.<\/p>\n<p>Rest in peace, sweet Emma.
