There are a bunch of great behind-the-scenes stories involving him, but one of my absolute favorites?<\/p>\n<p>Richard O\u2019Brien was worried Meat Loaf might struggle with the fast-paced song \u201cHot Patootie \u2013 Bless My Soul.\u201d So, he handed him the sheet music and said,\u00a0<em>\u201cIt\u2019s okay to flub a few lines. No one in the London cast has ever sung the whole thing correctly anyway.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Meat Loaf looked it over and casually replied,\u00a0<em>\u201cWhat\u2019s the problem?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 then nailed the entire song perfectly on the first try.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-dramatic-entrance-wasn-t-planned\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dramatic entrance wasn\u2019t planned<\/h2>\n<p>One of the film\u2019s most memorable moments is when Dr. Everett V. Scott bursts onto the scene by crashing straight through a wall. Surprisingly, that dramatic entrance wasn\u2019t originally planned \u2014 it happened because the set crew forgot to include an extra door in the lab.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1406290065\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-a824db9d2457c3164d97f8ee91747079\" class=\"newsner-a824db9d2457c3164d97f8ee91747079 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"h-the-royal-confession-shocked-curry\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The royal confession shocked Curry<\/h2>\n<p>Fans of\u00a0<em>The Rocky Horror Picture Show<\/em>\u00a0span the globe \u2014 but one of the most unexpected and famous admirers was none other than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/princess-diana\/\">Princess Diana<\/a>. While Tim Curry was performing in Austria, he got word that the Princess wanted to meet him. When they were finally introduced, Diana flashed what Curry described as a \u201cwicked smile\u201d and told him that\u00a0<em>Rocky Horror<\/em>\u00a0had \u201cquite completed my education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curry shared the story during an interview on\u00a0<em>Fresh Air<\/em>\u00a0with Terry Gross, recalling how he met both King Charles III and Princess Diana after a performance of\u00a0<em>Love for Love<\/em>. He remembered being placed at the end of the receiving line. While Prince Charles gave a polite but vague acknowledgment\u2014saying he\u2019d seen Curry \u201con television\u201d \u2014 Diana\u2019s reaction was unforgettable. Her reaction?<\/p>\n<p>Totally real pain. But she got her (accidental) revenge later in the Floor Show when she stepped on his foot with her spike heel. His grimace caught on camera? Also 100% genuine. Talk about accidental payback \u2014 with a dash of glam\u2026<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-susan-sarandon-s-grit\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Susan Sarandon\u2019s grit<\/h2>\n<p>The film was shot during the fall and winter of 1974 in the United Kingdom, primarily at Bray Studios and on location at an old country estate called Oakley Court.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, the set was freezing cold and had no bathrooms. Barry Bostwick, who played Brad Majors, says he was pretty much wet the whole time because the castle was leaking. The cast had one \u201cwarm room\u201d with space heaters to warm up, but guess what? After filming the pool scene in her skimpy outfit, she developed pneumonia. Richard O\u2019Brien recalled she was \u201dshaking with fever\u201d and \u201dshould have been under medical supervision,\u201d but she refused to stop working, and her battered body and health were things no moviegoer ever noticed.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Barry Bostwick, he and Susan Sarandon were actually dating while filming. Richard O\u2019Brien casually revealed this tidbit back in 2013.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1301215142\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-f2689a295036fb75459fa8d6d85ea1f6\" class=\"newsner-f2689a295036fb75459fa8d6d85ea1f6 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"h-the-scene-that-almost-went-nude\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The scene that almost went nude<\/h2>\n<p>Playing Janet Weiss, the film\u2019s sexy lead, Sarandon was already in various states of undress throughout the film. One of Janet\u2019s most memorable moments is her sexual awakening during the song \u2018Touch-A-Touch-A-Touch Me,\u2019 performed opposite Peter Hinwood\u2019s Rocky, who was a model at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d\u2018Peter, of course was just the shyest, quietest. I think that was traumatizing to him to have to do that scene with me,\u2019\u201d Sarandon\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/susan-sarandon-says-it-was-traumatizing-for-peter-hinwood-to-film-touch-me-rocky-horror-11699722\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">recalls<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The filmmakers wanted Susan Sarandon to go fully nude for the scene, but she refused \u2014 despite having appeared nude in other movies before.<\/p>\n<p>Still, they had hoped she\u2019d actually strip completely for that iconic song alongside Peter Hinwood\u2019s Rocky Horror. Sarandon stood her ground and didn\u2019t fully disrobe.<\/p>\n<p>Her daring performance, however, caught Playboy\u2019s attention, and they kept trying to get her to do a nude pictorial for years afterward. In a 1991 interview, she said, \u201cThey have been after me since The Rocky Horror Picture Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-susan-sarandon-don-t-want-talk-about-the-movie\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Susan Sarandon don\u2019t want talk about the movie<\/h2>\n<p>Susan Sarandon has revealed she never planned to audition for the role of Janet. She just dropped by the set to visit her friend Tim Curry.<\/p>\n<p>While there, the producers noticed her and asked if she\u2019d give it a shot. They\u2019d heard good singers but hadn\u2019t found anyone who could bring the humor Janet needed. They loved her performance and cast her, but Sarandon admits it was a lucky accident. She\u2019s also expressed frustration over the fact that none of the cast received royalties from the DVD sales, which makes her reluctant to talk about the movie sometimes.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-870710970\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-e0cb35a12f1fa086aab7aec2e5a219a1\" class=\"newsner-e0cb35a12f1fa086aab7aec2e5a219a1 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"h-rain-or-not\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rain or not?<\/h2>\n<p>During the \u201cOver at the Frankenstein Place\u201d scene, when Janet uses a newspaper to shield her head from the rain, the prop was specially coated with plastic to survive multiple takes of getting soaked.<\/p>\n<p>However, the plastic didn\u2019t cover the entire paper \u2014 one corner, where Susan Sarandon held it, was left uncoated to keep the look natural. While water visibly drips from most of the newspaper, the corner in her hand stays dry, making it clear that part of the prop wasn\u2019t actually getting wet.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Janet\u2019s cardigan starts out blue during \u201cOver at the Frankenstein Place,\u201d but when she meets Riff Raff, it magically turns white.<\/p>\n<p>And there\u2019s another fun wardrobe detail to watch for with Janet next time you watch the movie. Her shoes start out black at the beginning, but by the time she and Brad reach the lab, they\u2019ve mysteriously switched to white.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-unexpected-wheelchair-twist\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unexpected wheelchair twist<\/h2>\n<p>At the movie\u2019s climax, as Magenta and Riff Raff prepare to transport the castle away, Brad and Janet carry Dr. Scott from the scene. After the castle explodes and lifts off, the three are shown lying scattered across the grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Dr. Scott is now resting on the broken remains of a wheelchair \u2014 even though he hadn\u2019t used one just moments earlier.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-mistaken-for-impostor\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mistaken for impostor<\/h2>\n<p>When Tim Curry was living in New York, he noticed fans dressing up for midnight screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Curious, he called the theater to ask if he could join one of the showings. While the fans were excited to see him, the theater staff didn\u2019t believe it was actually Tim Curry and labeled him an \u201cimpostor,\u201d even throwing him out.<\/p>\n<p>After Curry proved his identity, the staff apologized\u2014but by then, he chose not to return.
