However, the thought of growing old and losing my independence frightens me.<\/p>\n<p>Being completely reliant on others, unable to use the bathroom by myself or even remember my children\u2019s names\u2014that\u2019s not a life I want to lead.<\/p>\n<p>Maria spent her last days in a care facility, fully aware that her time was limited.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Having dedicated her life to teaching singing and piano, she longed for the presence of music around her once more.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, one of her former students worked at the care home in Austinburg, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Joshua Woodard had been her student since he was just 9 years old, so they shared a special bond.<\/p>\n<p>Maria\u2019s deepest desire was to hear the hymn \u201cHow Great Thou Art\u201d before she passed away.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally, Joshua was more than willing to grant Maria\u2019s last wish.<\/p>\n<div class=\"618414a931e9cd97c0c9c493bb22fb8a\" data-index=\"2\"><\/div>\n<p>With the lyrics on his phone, he delivered a touching performance of her beloved song.<\/p>\n<p>Even more heartwarming, Joshua had known Maria since he was only 9.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHospice workers are like angels, but this particular aide is truly exceptional,\u201d remarked Marti Adkins Redmond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaria taught voice and piano in her earlier years, and this aide, Joshua Woodard, was one of her students as a child.
