SINGER and voice teacher Debra Byrd has died.<\/p>\n

She was 72 years old.<\/p>\n

The star died on Tuesday at her home in Los Angeles. She had been on hit shows like \u201cThe Voice\u201d and \u201cAmerican Idol.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deadline says that the cause of Debra\u2019s death has not been confirmed yet.<\/p>\n

A number of famous people, including Barry Manilow, a longtime friend and coworker, have led moving tributes to Debra\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

Barry put up a sad post on his social media.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never been this sad in my life.\u201d He wrote, \u201cI just can\u2019t wrap my mind around the fact that Debra is no longer with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was one of my best friends ever.\u201d I\u2019ll always miss you, my love.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, and Bob Dylan were just a few of the big stars that Debra had worked with.<\/p>\n

Jennifer sent her condolences on X, which used to be Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u201cHeartbroken over the passing of Debra Byrd, the vocal coach on American Idol,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe backed us up and gave us hope from the start!<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thankful for everything she taught us.\u201d She is deeply missed, but her music lives on through the work of many artists she inspired during her lifetime.\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cRest in peace, Debra,\u201d she ended.<\/p>\n

Jen got a lot of attention when she made it to the finals of American Idol in 2004 and worked with Debra.<\/p>\n

Other graduates, like Clay Aiken, talked about how much Debra helped them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think it would be an exaggeration to say that no one was a better mentor, coach, teacher, or champion to us Idol contestants than Byrd was,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one was with us longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll never forget how hard she drilled us to look straight into the camera and connect with the people watching at home.\u201d She made a lot of people\u2019s lives better. I\u2019m so glad I got to be her friend.<\/p>\n

DEBRA\u2019S WORK
\nDebra was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She went to Kent State University before becoming a musician.<\/p>\n

She got better at what she did in the Karamu and Dobama Theaters while she was in school.<\/p>\n

As soon as she graduated, she joined Barry\u2019s band and sang backup.<\/p>\n

Their song \u201cStreet Singin\u2019\u201d made it to number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1976.<\/p>\n

Barry set up the song for the singer who is backing him up.<\/p>\n

Before moving to The Voice, where she cared for and helped the contestants, Debra worked on American Idol for 10 seasons.<\/p>\n

WHAT WE\u2019VE DONE
\nShe has worked with many famous people, and in 2018 at the Academy Awards, she was in the choir for a performance of Mighty River.<\/p>\n

It was in the middle of the 1980s and Bob Dylan was on tour with Hard to Handle: Bob Dylan in Concert. Debra was his coach there.\"\"<\/p>\n

Band of the Hand, a song from 1986, was also made with Dylan, Stevie Nicks, and the late Tom Petty.<\/p>\n

For movies like \u201cThe Lion King 1\u00bd,\u201d \u201cThe Lion King II: Simba\u2019s Pride,\u201d and \u201cSister Act II,\u201d she did the music.<\/p>\n

NBC hired her to work on the vocal production for their 2019 Super Bowl tribute to Prince.<\/p>\n
