Rudy Giuliani Hospitalized in Critical Condition After Severe Pneumonia Overwhelms His Health…

Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized after a severe case of pneumonia that reportedly overwhelmed his body. News broke on Sunday, May 3, that the former mayor was in critical condition. His spokesperson, Ted Goodman, later confirmed that while Giuliani remains in critical condition, he is stable and recovering.

Goodman explained that Giuliani’s prior diagnosis of restrictive airway disease—linked to his exposure during the September 11 attacks—makes respiratory illnesses more dangerous for him. The illness progressed quickly, requiring mechanical ventilation to stabilize his oxygen levels.

At 81, Giuliani is now breathing independently and is surrounded by family and his primary doctor. Goodman described him as resilient, saying he is continuing to fight through this health challenge, while also expressing gratitude for the public’s support and prayers.

However, a source familiar with circles connected to the Trump administration noted that Giuliani’s condition remains serious, stating that he is “not in good shape.”

This health crisis follows a major car accident in New Hampshire in August 2025, where Giuliani sustained significant injuries, including a fractured thoracic vertebra, cuts, bruises, and damage to his arm and leg. According to his security chief, Michael Ragusa, the incident occurred after Giuliani had stopped to help a woman involved in a domestic violence situation before his vehicle was hit at high speed.

Despite those injuries, Giuliani later attended a 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero, appearing in a wheelchair and wearing a chest brace, though he stood for parts of the ceremony.

Shortly after the accident, Donald Trump announced plans to award Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. The ceremony, however, has not yet been scheduled.
