When you see someone doing something that seems odd or that you disapprove of, consider this question: is it causing harm to anyone else?
If the answer is “no”, then it’s likely best to step back and focus on your own life. It’s not your role to determine what’s right for others, especially if you haven’t taken the time to understand their reasons for making certain choices.
If you took a moment to inquire, you might gain a new viewpoint on the whole matter.
Phoebe Kannisto is the mother of six sons: five-year-old triplets, eight-year-old twins, and a ten-year-old. They reside in Cheektowaga, New York, and until recently, all six boys sported very long hair.
The length and style of hair is a perfect example of something that doesn’t harm anyone else. It’s a personal decision, and we should all honor that. Whether or not you appreciate someone’s hairstyle is irrelevant, as long as they are content with it themselves.
How would you feel if someone ridiculed your looks?
Yet, many individuals fail to grasp this straightforward idea and feel compelled to comment on everything, including the hair of a few young boys.
All six boys faced bullying for their long hair while they were growing it out. The bullying didn’t just come from peers; the unnecessary and unjust criticisms and hurtful remarks often originated from adults. And adults should know better!
What those bullies failed to understand was that these boys were growing their hair for a meaningful purpose. They had lost a family friend to cancer, and several of the boys were around the same age. The loss of their friend deeply impacted them, and they wanted to take action to make a difference.
Thus, all six boys made the decision to grow their hair out and donate it to the nonprofit organization, Children with Hair Loss. After months of dedication, the boys successfully donated 17 feet of hair!

Before you mock someone or pick on them for something you don’t grasp, pause for a moment to consider your actions. If it doesn’t harm anyone else, then it’s not your concern!
Please like and share if you believe these boys are inspiring!
