Goldman shared that he feels happier than ever, describing his newborn as already eating well and getting some sleep. He and Johnna, who married in 2019, are also parents to their 5-year-old daughter, Josephine.
The celebrity chef said he’s especially looking forward to raising his first son and hopes to bring him up to be a good person. Meanwhile, Josephine has been eagerly preparing for her new role as a big sister. Before the baby arrived, she gathered toys to give him and made drawings to decorate his room, even helping with setting up his crib and bookshelf.
When she first met her baby brother, Josephine was initially a bit cautious, unsure of how to handle such a tiny newborn. However, she quickly warmed up and affectionately kissed him after seeing him cuddle with one of her stuffed animals.
Goldman described his daughter as confident, strong-willed, and full of personality, joking that she runs the household and comparing her to a character from the animated show Bob’s Burgers, which the family loves.
In fact, the show played a role during the baby’s birth. Goldman said that he and Johnna were watching Bob’s Burgers when labor began, and it remained on the TV throughout the delivery, making it the first thing their son “heard” when he was born.
Despite the name Samurai Jack, Goldman clarified that his son wasn’t named after the cartoon character. Instead, he explained that “Sam” was inspired by someone he admired growing up, and they chose “Samurai” as a unique twist for the full name.
The couple first announced they were expecting their second child in November through social media, expressing excitement about expanding their family.
They often share glimpses of their family life online, from creative baking projects to fun moments with their daughter. Johnna has also praised Goldman as a devoted and loving father, highlighting his hands-on approach to parenting.
Goldman has previously shared stories about Josephine’s creativity, including how she once designed a special shelf for her stuffed animals, which made him proud of her imagination.
New episodes of his show Ultimate Baking Championship continue to air on Food Network.
