Misua, a contestant on Drag Race: Philippines, has tragically passed away at the age of 27.
On Thursday, April 2, the show and its production company, World of Wonder, shared the news on Instagram, confirming that Misua died in her sleep.
The team added, “Production has been paused to support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her.”
They also noted, “We are in contact with her family, who have requested privacy during this hard time.” The cause of Misua’s death has not yet been disclosed.
Tributes poured in from the Drag Race community. RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under contestant Hannah Conda wrote, “Absolutely heartbreaking! My thoughts are with my Filo family. Sending love to you all! She was an absolute star!”
RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World winner Blue Hydrangea also commented, “Devastating! Sending love to everyone involved .”
Misua, whose real name was Jason Elvie Ty, was remembered by her family in a Facebook post obtained by Variety. “Jayson was our dearly loved son, brother, friend, and mentor, and above all, a star. He will be greatly missed by his family and close friends,” they wrote.
According to her bio, Misua was a queen from Cagayan de Oro. She described her drag as rooted in fashion, artistry, and self-expression. A graphic designer by profession and performer for eight years, she was known for creating almost every element of her drag herself—from outfits, hair, and nails to props and visual content—showcasing her creativity and meticulous attention to detail. Her drag name was inspired by her grandfather’s comfort food.
In October 2025, it was announced that season four of Drag Race: Philippines would air later in the year. Season three, which premiered last year, crowned Maxie as the winner, with Khianna as runner-up.
