Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt’s daughter has changed her name again

Just one year after officially removing “Pitt” from her name, Shiloh Jolie has taken another daring step — and this time, it’s surprising everyone.

Now at 19, she’s reemerging with a completely new identity, and the world only learned about it through a subtle mention in an unexpected press release. So what name is she using now? Let’s just say… it signifies a brand new chapter.

For years, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has been one of the most discussed celebrity children globally. As the daughter of Hollywood superstars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, she grew up under the intense scrutiny of the public eye — making headlines for everything from her changing style to her striking resemblance to both parents. However, perhaps the most significant news regarding Shiloh emerged just last year.

Then Shiloh disclosed that she had decided to remove her father’s last name following “painful events.” In California, legally changing one’s name necessitates filing official documents and publishing a public notice of the intent in a newspaper for four weeks before a judge can approve the request.

Brad’s comments on the change

Shiloh initiated that process on her 18th birthday, May 27, and subsequently published a legal notice in the Los Angeles Times, indicating her request to change her name from “Shiloh Jolie-Pitt” to simply “Shiloh Jolie.”

In May 2024, shortly after her petition was submitted, a source close to Brad Pitt informed People that the actor was “aware” of the change.

A year after making headlines for legally dropping “Pitt” from her last name, the 19-year-old is now using a completely new name — one that fans were unaware of until it appeared in a press release.

On May 29, Shiloh attended a private dinner in Los Angeles to celebrate the launch of fashion designer Isabel Marant’s new collection with Net-A-Porter, as reported by Variety.

Although she didn’t stay for long — just socializing during the cocktail hour before leaving to join the dancers — her presence that evening was important.

Shiloh took on the role of choreographer for rising musician Luella, whose performance of her new single “Naïve” included dancers Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuko. But it wasn’t only her contributions that drew attention — it was her name in the press release. For the first time, she was publicly identified as Shi Joli.

That’s right — Shiloh Jolie has seemingly transformed herself once again, this time adopting a sleek, artistic name that suits the creative journey she’s embarking on.

Her own identity

While the name may be fresh, Shiloh’s love for dance is well known. She has trained extensively with LA-based choreographer Kolanie Marks, who has shared videos of her hard work on his Instagram.

According to him, she didn’t exactly excel on her first day.

“I met Shiloh at my Millennium Class and she was going down in FLAMES …. She shouldn’t have been in there! However, I saw something authentic … she kept returning and yes, still going down in flames!” Kolanie shared. “Not until we started doing private one-on-ones! I’ve spent the most time with her out of anyone I’m training in LA! There’s something about her that doesn’t quit!”

Even though she was born into a family of Hollywood stars, Shiloh is clearly focused on creating her own path — both in her name and her career. With her recent transformation into Shi Joli, she’s demonstrating to everyone that she’s prepared to embrace the limelight on her own terms.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,” a source revealed. “The reminders that he’s lost his children are certainly difficult for Brad. He loves his kids and misses them.”

While Shiloh has garnered attention for her name changes, she’s not the only family member distancing herself from the “Pitt” surname. Her younger sister, Vivienne, was recently referred to as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for The Outsiders musical — a project she collaborated on with her mother, Angelina.

Additionally, last fall, the eldest sister Zahara made a subtle yet significant statement. When she was welcomed into the Mu Pi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College, Zahara introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” as shown in a video shared by Essence.
